3rd European Radioorienteering Championships

Basic Information

  1. Participants: a representative of any country, city, society, sport club, etc.
  2. Date: 20-23 August, 2004.
  3. Venue: Birštonas, one of the most prestigious Lithuanian health resorts, situated on the river Nemunas 40 km south of Kaunas. Competitions terrain is wooded and crossed with forest roads. Competition's sites are about 15 km from accomodation.
  4. Travel:  road access via Suwalki, Marijampolė, Prienai or via Vilnius, Trakai, Aukštadvaris.
  5. Shedule: 20 August, 2004, Friday

                  21 August, 2004, Saturday

    • combination competition on 3.5 MHz and 144 MHz bands.

    • foxoring competition on 3.5MHz band.

    • experimental GPS competition.

  6. Categories:     W-19, W-21, W-35.
                          M-19, M-21, M-40, M-55.

  7. Teams: a National team participating in championships may consist of any number of participants.
                Each country may enter any number of teams in each category (declared on day of arival in championships).
                Each team ought to consist of 2-3 sportsmen.
                Each National team may be accompanied by a team leader. An International class referee (to serve as a member of the International Jury) may also accompany each National team.
                All National teams are kindly invited to bring their national flag (standard dimensions) and an audio record of national anthem (audio cassette).

  8. Classification: individual - each category and competition.
                            Team       - the sum of two competitions (the highest two scores in each category).
                            National team - the same as in Olympic Games, e. g. 1st place - 6 points, 2nd place - 5 points, ..., 6th place - 1 point.

  9. Prizes and Awards: individual classification 1-3 place medals and diplomas, 4-6 place - diplomas.
                                    Team classification 1st place cups, 1-3 place diplomas for team members.
                                    National team 1st place cup, 1-3 place diplomas.
      Competitors, gaining first three places, M-21, D-21(sum of combination competition and foxoring competition) will be awarded with premiums. We invite sponsors for premium foundation.

  10. Contests: combination competition W-19 category will not search for transmitter 2, W-21 category will not search for transmitter 4, W-35 and M-55 categories will not search for transmitter 1, M-19 category will not search for transmitter 3, M-40 category will not search for transmitter 5.
     Foxoring competition - total number of transmitters is 12, M-21 category search for 10 transmitters, W-19,W-21, W-35, M-19, M-40, M-55 categories will search for 8 transmitters.
     Transmitters, including the finish beacon, will be located not less than 400m apart. The transmitter from the edge of a forest will be located not less than 150m and from the start not less than 750m. Transmitters will send code MO, MOE, MOI, MOS, MOH, MO5 in combination competition and N code in foxoring competition. Prizmas - standard IOF. Course lenghts will be given from 8 to 14km.

  12. Maps: standard IOF maps - size A4, scale 1:15000, E-5 m or 1:10000, E-2.5m.

  13. Accommodation: the accommodation has been arranged in a hotel.

  14. Payment for participation: participation fee will be 100 EURO per one participant during the whole period of the Championships.
     This price includes: accommodation - 40 Euro
                                   full board          - 40 Euro
                                   starting fee        - 20 Euro 
     Participating fee is accepted paid in cash on the day of arrival in the Championships.
     The Organizing Committee will cover all the participation expenses to the invited guests.
     Special reduction (10%) is provided for a participants from countries first time entering this European Championships.

  15. Medical aids: there will be medical service available in the competition and accommodation areas.

  16. Insurance: all participants in the championships should take care of their health insurance during the Championships. The organizers cannot bear any costs that should arise in case of accident or illness.

  17. Restrictions: only sportsmen, team leaders, members of International Jury and organizers are allowed to enter the starting area.
     It is not allowed to use any radio communication equipment (also mobile telephones) during competition period.
     There will be possibilities for visitors and guests to go to the finish area by buses provided by organizers.
